Life buzzes with things that surround us
so many things—near, far—gently showing up
or making a fuss, and I, a grain of sand amongst the flux.
Yesterday, I chose to be a rock, sitting still
Today—a butterfly, fluttering about
Days and nights fill me, as I toss doubt.
Am I to be a rock or a butterfly?
Then I wonder, does it matter? Do I have to choose?
Don't those without sight see by listening?
Don't those who can't hear listen by seeing?
Perhaps tomorrow, I will simply show up
aware, not thinking, I will listen and see
...like a grain of sand listening to the ocean breeze
seeing sandcastles built, disappearing, creating space...
in the act of living, lacing and unlacing my marvelous dance
with each passing of the sun, the moon, and happenstance
—we find our own, sweet romance
in the buzzing of all the things.
