[212]  In The Breath

In the darkness of yesterday's night

the restless wind blew its mighty strength

dropping weak branches from trees

and brilliant leaves to brown and wither.

Each year, this brilliant color appears

then falls and leaves us bare

Yet the tree stands for yet another,

it holds its place, strong and steady

in the brisk winter of a northern land,

readying itself to build anew

...so I can too.

So today I took a breath

and felt my shoulders drop

my heart slow

and a warm stream flow to my toes

as the sun streamed through

a familiar window I now call home

readying myself to build anew

...so you can too.
