[213] Growing Gently in the Upend

I wonder why moss grows gently
filling cracks and crevices
to heal the wounded earth
its green as green as it gets
soft and serene
like a sponge, it holds water
nourishing the land
it purifies the air more than trees
cools heat from the rising sun
captures the noise of urban sprawl
creates habitats for tiny creatures
offers healing and potential
for birthing new fuel
this green wonder
slowly, without fanfare,
caresses all in its path
like a true friend,
brings hope and renewal
in the midst of upending,
brings peace and purpose
to this wild world.
